Wall coating maintenance

Cleaning advice for vinyl wallcoverings

General notes
Always clean from the outside towards the inside to avoid spreading the stain
Remove all dirt as soon as possible
Remove any damp or wet marks or dirt as much as possible using an absorbent material or spatula

Actions
1. Remove any dry marks or dirt using a soft brush
2. Apply a standard non-aggressive cleaning agent directly onto the wall covering or onto a sponge
3. If needed, use the soft brush for any persistent marks or dirt
4. After cleaning, remove any dirt residue and cleaning product using clean water. Use a clean sponge and cloth to dry the surface and avoiding excess rubbing

Glossy surfaces and finely patterned matte surfaces
1. On glossy surfaces, avoid using brushes of any kind, even soft brushes. Use sponges only.
2. On finely patterned matte surfaces, use a soft brush to remove any dirt ingrained in the pattern. Remove the loosened dirt with a sponge and plenty of clean water. Do not rub excessively using the sponge, otherwise you risk wearing or discolouring the fine patterning of the surface.

Care advice for fabric and non-woven wallcoverings

In order to maintain the wallcovering, please refer to the technical file to check its composition and thus choose the best cleaning technique.

1. Firstly, check that a cleaning agent can be used on the material, by carrying out a small test on an inconspicuous area. Some products may weaken or attack the fibres.
2. The surface should be cleaned as soon as possible. If you act quickly, a cloth soaked in mineral water may be enough to remove most marks or dirt, particularly if the surface has been treated with an anti-stain or anti-dirt treatment.
3. Any dust coating must be removed.
4. A mark or dirt should be wiped gently using a circular movement, working from the outside to the inside of the affected area.
5. Never rub a liquid mark. Absorb as much as possible using a sponge, absorbent paper or a cloth.
6. If the mark or dirt is thick, crusty or solid, it must be carefully removed using a spoon or spatula before attempting to use any water or cleaner. Avoid using a knife, as this could be dangerous.
7. One final piece of advice: use cold water or tepid water! Hot water engrains stains and fixes them in place.
